Anthony Maynard Reliability Trial Report Sunday 25th Feb 2018

Anthony Maynard Reliability Trial Report Sunday 25th Feb 2018

A magnificent turnout in the chilly sunshine on Sunday 25th, at the final count, there were 82 riders! Even including Dave's contingent from Minehead I think this is still up on previous years.
Thanks to helpers, Doug Aspinall, Peter Stocker and Kevin Buckley who kept things running smoothly on the day, and brought additional materials for the start setup.
Doug has totted up the donations and after subtracting costs on the day, the two charities Thames Valley Air Ambulance and World Society for Protection of Animals will each receive half of £209.70. Thanks everyone.

Tenerife Training

Mike Fenwick and Greg Woodford went for a week to Tenerife. Here is Mike's summary.

I expected to work hard on a week’s training in Tenerife but managed a bit more than expected.
The weather was ideal and when I am paying to hire a bike (Ridley) I am certainly going to use it.
Greg Woodford and I booked Hotel El Medano in the small town of El Medano on the coast.
Tenerife is unique in that you can be constantly climbing for 2 – 3 hours.
There are not too many roads up the mountain so we would invariably end up at the Parador at over 2000 m for refreshments.

Much of our experience of cycling concerns struggle. Struggle to keep up. Struggle to keep going. Struggle to keep the bike going. When it comes to dealing with a recalcitrant velo, the number #1 item on the snagging list is the tyre and its ability to provide a safe ride without unwelcome deflation.

Membership changes for 2015

The membership fees have been changed for the first time in a number of years. There will be one membership for adults and one for under 18s. Members of other clubs will be able to join as second claim and they will pay the same membership and pay the same fees at the TT series. The only difference for second claim members will be that they will not be able to claim club awards.

The fee for all adult members will be £15 and for under 18s will be £10. These will be payable through British Cycling club manager, which we have introduced to help simplify the club's administration. There will be £1 handling charge added by British Cycling for payment on-line.

The membership year now extends up to 1st March and you have until this date to pay. All the people who have paid will have their membership continued up the end of February 2016. Club membership cards will be posted during the first half of March 2015. These can be used for discounts and to prove membership if required.
