Club TT result, 21 July 2015, Maidenhead Thicket H10/2

A lovely evening out on the A4 – yes there is such a thing – as usual with a bit more of a west wind than you’d select if you had a choice. Didn’t prevent those with the form and strength from setting hot times despite the course being about 20m long as Greg was gleefully informed several times.

Bloody Greg, said James, and no wonder, Greg Woodford’s 53:28 was not only outrageously fast, it would actually have won our recent Open 25. So Greg quite justifiably is RCC club 25-mile champion for 2015.

A lovely sunny evening, yes, but the 2015 default weather setting of ‘windy’ was very much present.

Everyone getting to Aldermaston from Reading this evening noticed the traffic accident with police in attendance at the Spring Inn. The consequence for us was that I decided to shorten the event to 10 miles. Little dissent on that on such a sweltering evening, 29C at the start. Was it a fast evening? Greg and Jim clearly thought so and PBs were scattered through the field, for example Rob Thompson and Dan Harryman squeaking under 25 minutes. For myself a very fast outward leg was followed by a draggy hot return on which I could feel myself fading as Greg powered smoothly past. We have one more visit to the H25/1 which is on the 14th July and that event is now nominated as the club 25 championship. On the way home this evening the police were still beside the damaged vehicle.

Club TT result, 23 June 2015. "Old School" championship at Maidenhead Thicket

My thanks to Pete Ganderton, Graham Patterson, Dave Gaida and Greg Woodford for running last evening’s event. Your Old School champion for 2015 is Hadyn Rhys Jones with a mighty impressive 22:26.

Finally the weather gods delivered a lovely evening. Rob Thompson summed up the time trial experience perfectly, “it was really hard all the way but I enjoyed it.” Callum Hughes showed good form to take a win with Paul Gray Reading’s best finisher, was that a PB for Paul I wonder. Stewart House underlined his old school credentials by riding a drop-barred fixie, and the Bennet tandem continues to improve.
