Torture 45 and 30 - March 15th 2009

John Wann is once again organising this much-anticipated event for 2009. Anyone interested in riding up and down every hill within a few miles of the Hambleden Valley, this is your chance. Those who avoid hills at all costs, please ignore ! Read on for route details - there are some changes this year, as well as a shorter option.

Reliability Trial 2009 - 22nd February - Results

Organiser Steve Thurgood writes:

Well I hope you had an enjoyable challenge today and great thanks go
to (and in no particular order):
- Mark Lyford (sign on and off)
- Mary & Ian Lomas (love that lemon sponge!)
- The weather!
- The Course (first time for me and I thought it [short] was grand)

Mistakes, I'm sure there are a few, but tough - it's a fun pre-season
outing for all!

And..... THE WINNERS are Mike Wheat and Adrian Lawson. WELL DONE

Reliability Trial 2009 - Sunday 22nd February

The last Sunday in February (22/02/09) sees the 2009 running of the
ever-popular RCC Reliability Trial, run on the same routes but reduced
time targets for 3 of the 4 groups.

Group result notes and analysis are with last years results in Yahoo
Files (http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/readingcc/files) but, my
overall comment was as follows:
"62 Riders and overall better group choices are needed for 2009. If
improved this would produce a much better challenge for all groups!"

Torture 40 - Easter Sunday - RESULTS

Barbaric punishment is a theme at this time of year, and Reading CC gave you the opportunity to "enjoy" a very hilly ride based around the Hambleden valley on Easter Sunday, featuring 11 climbs, most of which have sections of more than 14%, with 1400m of climbing in total.

It was a chilly 2C at the start, with wind, snow and sleet flurries, although conditions did improve during the ride. The results are attached below, along with a photo by Barry Quick of the conditions when the ride set off.
