Reading Cycling Club press report, week ending Sunday 22 Feb 2009

Circuit racing, the annual reliability trial, and decent weather.

Reliability Trial 2009 - 22nd February - Results

Organiser Steve Thurgood writes:

Well I hope you had an enjoyable challenge today and great thanks go
to (and in no particular order):
- Mark Lyford (sign on and off)
- Mary & Ian Lomas (love that lemon sponge!)
- The weather!
- The Course (first time for me and I thought it [short] was grand)

Mistakes, I'm sure there are a few, but tough - it's a fun pre-season
outing for all!

And..... THE WINNERS are Mike Wheat and Adrian Lawson. WELL DONE

Time Trials

Peter Graham continued his early start to the road season and rode the Andover Wheelers Hilly 10.2 mile time trial on Saturday finishing in 7th position.

Reliability Trial 2009 - Sunday 22nd February

The last Sunday in February (22/02/09) sees the 2009 running of the
ever-popular RCC Reliability Trial, run on the same routes but reduced
time targets for 3 of the 4 groups.

Group result notes and analysis are with last years results in Yahoo
Files (http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/readingcc/files) but, my
overall comment was as follows:
"62 Riders and overall better group choices are needed for 2009. If
improved this would produce a much better challenge for all groups!"

Club Committee's Comments on Anthony Maynard Inquest Verdict

The committee of Reading Cycling Club learned with dismay that the inquest into the death of Anthony Maynard, held in Oxford on January 27th, returned a verdict of ‘accidental death’. We had hoped that the inquest might have challenged the highly questionable decision by the Crown Prosecution Service not to take the driver who had killed and injured to court.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the Maynard family.
