Torture 40 - Sunday April 5 2015

By twarwick - Posted on 22 March 2015

RCC are presenting their annual Torture 40 challenge on Sunday 5th April 2015 at 0900 am. It’s been described as a mini Marmotte due to the hills, and Paris / Roubaix due to the time of year, and the possible conditions!!! This is open to both RCC members and non-members.

As last year we will be using Strava to carry out timings, but this is not a race. However, there is a ‘King of the Mountains’ (KOM) prize for 1st claim RCC members based on the lowest aggregate time on four of the major climbs.

The route can be found at the following link on Strava, and it’s advisable that you familiarise yourself with the route, or take a map, as there wont be any signage.

The start is Mill End car park near Hambledon, and the route takes in Fawley, Fingest, Frieth, Turville, Christmas Common, Watlington, Britwell Salome, and Stoner. Total distance 42.5 miles, total climbing 4,145 feet!

Don’t worry if you can’t make it for 0900 hrs, you can start at any time in the day, and your times can be picked up on Strava.

An entrant list will be hung on the notice board to the right of the toilets, if you could add your name, it will make looking through Strava easier.

Be aware that these roads suffer with uneven surfaces and gravel. Please take care at all times especially downhill, and respect the rules of the road and other road users at all times.

The four KOM Segments are:

Shogmoor Ln – steep bit
Holloway ln Climb
Britwell Hill HWCC
Balhams Lane (Short)

Best of luck!
