It will be a long day for riders and helpers alike, so everyone can start the day in the finest traditional way with a bowl of porridge. Waypoint Upper Basildon Aldworth East Ilsley West Ilsley Farnborough Wantage Hackpen Hill (1.3km avg. 6%) Control 1 Heading out on the ride at the first feed station you will find: Water – the best way to stay hydrated (provided by The Instant Water Company Rocks Organic Cordial – a high sugar drink to give you a good kick, plus it is naturally rich in vitamins and salts); Bananas to provide you with slower releasing energy; Peanut and honey energy bars giving a good mixture of protein, fat and carbohydrate – grab one to see you through to the next feed station; A selection of dried fruit – high in natural sugars and an excellent source of nutrients such as B vitamins, potassium and sodium; A selection of nuts for a little extra protein, fat and carbohydrate. Waypoint Lambourne Routes split here. Left for short (110km) and RIGHT for longer (195km) route. Here you will find a small (but perfectly formed) Bakery/Cafe on the right just before before the route split junction. Waypoint Welford Kintbury Hamstead Marshall Long and Short routes rejoin. Waypoint Control 2 The second feed station will be the same as the first with the addition of savoury sandwiches, all made with wholemeal bread so you don’t miss out on those valuable nutrients lost in white bread.
